New Diesel Cars for 2009


Those individuals that appreciate diesel powered cars will surely be happy to know that the majority of all automobile manufacturers will be producing new diesel cars released in 2009 and 2010.  Recently revealed at the North American International Automobile Show hosted in Detroit are some of the new diesel car models which auto manufacturers plan to market in the next few years.  Here, a brief list of diesel cars is offered in order to make it easier for the consumer to choose the best diesel car from new models soon to be marketed.


Audi Diesel Cars

Audi is an automobile manufacturer that has set a plan into effect that will allow them to offer a diesel car powered by a 500 hp engine with 738 foot/pounds of torque.  The company sincerely believes diesel powered cars are economical, are fuel efficient, and that they produce lower emissions.  The company plans to include the motor beneath a road legal passenger vehicle and it is believed that the motor will offer more power than the Corvette ZR1.  It will also have the ability to reach speeds of more than 180 mph and to achieve 0 to 60 miles per hour in just over four seconds.  Audi plans to market a Q7 with a 3.0 L V-6 SUV as well and this vehicle will be among the first vehicles manufactured by the company to receive a diesel powered V-12 engine.

BMW Diesel Cars

In European countries the diesel powered BMWs are popular vehicles and the makers of BMWs will soon be offering new diesel cars to citizens of the United States as well.  In the year 2009, the BMW manufacturers plan to offer Americans two diesel powered cars which include the 2009 X5 xDrive35d and the 2009 335d Sedan.  The two latter vehicles will be manufactured with twin variable turbos, 3.0 Liter inline six diesel engines, and the vehicles will be capable of producing 420 pounds/foot of torque.  BMW’s new 2009 x5 will be capable of achieving zero to 60 in just over seven seconds time and consumers can expect the vehicle to get roughly 25 miles per gallon on the highway.  Meanwhile, BMW’s newest 335d Sedan will be capable of achieving zero to 60 in just over six seconds time and of delivering to consumers roughly 32 miles per gallon on the highway.

Dodge Diesel Cars

Dodge, the well-known automobile manufacturer, has been manufacturing the Dodge Ram for a long time; the 2009 model of the Dodge Ram 1500 will now house a Cummins 5.6 L V-8 diesel engine beneath the hood and the body of the truck will receive a new design.  This vehicle will be available to Americans in all 50 states and will supply to consumers a 30% improvement in fuel efficiency.  The engine offered within this new vehicle is expected to offer 300 horsepower and 460 pound/foot of torque.  Finally, the anticipated miles per gallon offered to consumers will be roughly 25 miles per gallon on the highway.

Ford Diesel Cars

Ford has been in the business of making automobiles and trucks for decades now and their vehicles prove consistently reliable.  The Ford manufacturer has made mention that they want to be the first out of the big three auto manufacturers in the nation to place a diesel powered motor within a light duty pickup truck.  These vehicles are expected to contain Turbo direct injection via EcoBoost motors as well.  For the year 2010 the Ford manufacturer intends to release and F-150 which will be presented with a fresh new interior and new sheet metal as well as a frame that is as much as 10% more durable.  The decision on what engine will be placed under the hood has not been made finalized yet however, two engines are under consideration: the 2.7 Liter V-6 and the 4.4 Liter V-8.  Both of the latter engines come fully equipped with variable twin turbos.  If the V-8 motor is used under the hood the vehicle is expected to offer 350 horsepower as well is 500 pounds/ foot of torque.  Meanwhile the V6 motor is expected to offer 200 horsepower as well as 320 pounds/ foot of torque.  The latter motor is also expected to deliver roughly 48 miles per gallon on the highway.

Jeep Diesel Cars

The manufacturer of Jeep vehicles have come up with the idea of creating the Jeep Renegade Bluetec diesel car: a vehicle that will be suitable for both off road and on the road enjoyment in all types of weather.  This vehicle will be fitted with a roll bar, a speedster windshield, and underneath the hood consumers will discover a diesel powered engine unified with a 40 mile lithium-ion battery pack.  This latest creation is anticipated to offer the consumer more than 110 miles per gallon on the highway and will also deliver 651 horsepower.  The vehicle will be able to reach zero to 60 in just over eight seconds time.

Mercedes-Benz Diesel Cars

Mercedes-Benz plans to manufacture several different diesel cars and present them to citizens of the US in the near future: diesel vehicles presented will include the2009 GL320 Bluetec, the ML320 Bluetec, and the R320 Bluetec.  The latter three models are all sports utility vehicles which have recently added urea injection features making them compliant in all 50 states in the nation.  All three models are powered by V-6 engines beneath the hood and deliver 211 horsepower as well as 398 pound/feet of torque.  The company intends to manufacture a diesel car which is actually a hybrid diesel/electric 300 Bluetec.  The vehicle is anticipated to offer a better fuel economy than that currently offered by non-hybrid counterparts.  The engines housed underneath the hood are expected to offer better fuel efficiency and cleaner fuel burning properties as well.
